Amish Apple Cobbler (Shalene)

Ingredients:
8 baking apples (bite size bits)
cup sugar
2 Tablespoons flour
1 Tablespoon cinnamon
½ Tablespoon nutmeg
6 Tablespoons butter

Directions:
Place apples in 2-3 quart baking dish. Mix sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg together. Sprinkle over apples. Dot with butter.

Topping:
1 cup flour
2 Tablespoons sugar
½ teaspoon salt
1 ½ teaspoon baking powder
cup shortening
3 Tablespoons milk
1 egg

Sift dry ingredients together and mix in milk and egg. Pour over top of apples. Bake at 350° for 35-45 minutes.
